About the Artist

Avni Bansal

Avni Bansal (b.1992) is an artist living between Delhi and Chandigarh. Her artistic practice takes inspiration from subconscious moments and beliefs prevalent in Indian culture, rituals, habits, behaviours, and memories. Her work attempts to deconstruct decorative and ornamental elements popularly witnessed in Indian homes and street cultures. Bansal’s works speak about the creation and interpretation of forms and the subsequent interpretation by viewers based on their subjective world-view and knowledge. The titles of her artworks are apt pointers to the image she wishes to engage and reconfigure.
