Arinjoy Sen

Kolkata born, London-based artist Arinjoy Sen brings a contemporary take on narrative painting, specifically evoking traditional forms such as Mughal miniatures, Kalighat painting and pattachitra. He revisits the idea of ritual through and beyond its association with religion. His artistic method begins with a 'scribble' without any knowledge of where it will lead, embarking on the processual nature of composition. The multiple layers in Sen’s work create a simultaneous presence of perspectival depth and surface flatness facilitated by the modalities of design software. Sen uses digital as a medium to speak of intertextuality where the past, present and future are interlaced in the singular, yet hybrid visual plane.
