Sculpture is three dimensional art, encompassing standalone objects and works “in relief” on other surfaces. In India, the medium has a long and developed history. In the 20th century, sculpture prioritised the figure, while today sculpture has expanded into installation as the basic principles of making art in three dimensions expand beyond individual objects.
